UNITED STATES ? It looks like Americans won?t be forgetting their fur kids this Halloween. Pets are getting in on the costume action in a big way.
The National Retail Federation says pet owners are expected to spend $370 million to dress up Fido and Fluffy this year! That?s $40 more than 2011.
The group did a survey and found out what costumes will be the cat?s meow. Expect to see a lot of pumpkins and devils.
Additionally, the NRF says a record 170 million people plan to celebrate Halloween this year ? the most in NRF?s 10-year survey history.
Consumers are expecting to spend more too. The average person will spend $79.82 on decorations, costumes and candy, up from $72.31 last year, with total Halloween spending expected to reach $8 billion.
The average amount Americans will spend on decorations, costumes and candy for Halloween ? $72.89.
The percentage of Americans who will look to a retail store for costume ideas ? 35.7%.
The percentage of Americans who will look for costume ideas via social media sites ? 27.1%.
