Rugby Union: Henson debut pleases Jones

London Welsh boss Lyn Jones has praised Gavin Henson for his debut, even though the team lost 28-23 to Saracens on Sunday.

The clash at the home of the Exiles was the first competitive encounter between the two teams in 24 years and the newcomers to the Aviva Premiership did well to keep Sarries in touching distance throughout the game.
However, experienced fly-half Charlie Hodgson was the man of the day and he scored all of the visitors points, with a try, a conversion and seven penalties.
Jones admitted his side were below-par at the Kassam Stadium and said his team could consider themselves fortunate to have earned a losing bonus point.
But the Welsh boss was pleased with the performance of Henson, who himself bagged 11 points in his first game for the Exiles.
Jones said: "I thought for his first game back in God knows how long, his performance was very good. He was hugely influential.
"To play as badly as we did and come away with a losing bonus point is a plus. Saracens are a quality side and they played very well today."
